Hi,
I've found a ms 380 for sale in my local area and just wondering what peoples opinion of this saw is. It's about 2 years old and new 381's are about $1100 and the 380 is about $750. Is this good buying??? I was originally looking at a 361 but the air cleanner seems to be a problem, especially in the dustier conditions I'll be cutting in. Does the 380 or 381 have better filtration??
Thanks for your advice.

380 is a great saw, but much older design. It is a newer version of the venerable 038 MAG. Filtration is so-so on it. They are VERY different animals from the 361. 380 is low down grunt, and older less effective AV, but WILDLY popular, and the go-to saw in the PNW for many years. 380 will use some fuel for sure. 361 is newer, more nimble, and more efficient. But less nads on the 361, especially without a muffler mod. I have said it before. If you don't have an 038 (380) you need one. It is just that simple.

I'm with him.

Was the 380 available to the U.S. market? We never saw it in Canada, I thought it was for the southeast Asian market.
