So I pruned an American Elm in 2014.. (Dutch Elm Disease)

It will be interesting to see the outcome of this one. So..... we know you pruned in August. What about the rest of ATH's questions? I think your defence of "The tree was healthy, but was not maintained & was going to get DED anyways" is a weak defence. I doubt the homeowner removed the tree and...

    Did a school marm today.

School Marm: A tree stem that branches into two or more trunks or tops. I worked for Blackcomb mountain (Whistler BC) in the mid-80's. Drove a snowcat. A lot of the ski runs were named after logging terms. School Marm was one of them. Here are some of the other logging named runs. Jersey Cream...

    whadja do today?

Attended the crane safety climbers course down near Philadelphia put on by The Crane Man Inc. Great course so far. Pete has done an excellent job lining up a good selection of instructors, venders and sponsors. Looking forward to tomorrow.

Spending the day manning my friends booth at the Peterborough home show. Wonder how may "How much does cost to cut a tree down" questions I'll get today. [emoji1]

    whadja do today?

Looking good there Jeff. I was dropping the Bucket Truck off at the shop the other day. The owner was just returning from the hospital with his apprentice. Seems for some reason the guy put his hand too close to a spinning fan blade. He now has a couple of fingers that are a tad bit shorter...

    Tree work credit card scam

They are trying that up here as well. My buddy just got called. The vacant address they gave him was actually a neighbour of a friend of his. Call didn't last long after that. :)

    whadja do today?

Ya, the weather is crap today. Was going to run up to Sheppard's and grab the Enforcer I ordered and a new wire core, but the Enforcer won't be in until next week. Just as well, shouldn't be out driving on those messy roads anyhow.

    Bandit 65xp infeed roller troubles?

I was able to dig up these pictures from my old computer. Here is the pin I'm refering to. The paint was ground off just prior to welding. As we lifted the feed roller assembly, the crack became larger.

    Bandit 65xp infeed roller troubles?

Quite possibly. My pin was moving. Angling up and down as the housing moved.

    Bandit 65xp infeed roller troubles?

Look at the welds where this pin attaches to the housing. Examine closely with the roller assembly in the down and up position.

    Bandit 65xp infeed roller troubles?

I have one of these chippers. Great little chipper. Take a look at the welds on the pins that the bearings pivot on. Look in the "hole" area just behind the main disc bearing and you'll see the pivot pins and their welds. Because of the placement, Bandit is only able to weld the top of those...

    whadja do today?

Nice work Dave. I took down these two leaning Pines on the lake last weekend. Looks like just in time too. With this warmer weather this year and the thinner ice this season, I think I would have missed my window of opportunity to get it done. We had about a foot of snow a few days before I did...

What kind of CDL license does one need to work in the tree biz?

Different States seem to have different alphabetical designation for their vehicle classification. Here is the CDL manual for Tennessee: http://www.tn.gov/assets/entities/safety/attachments/CDLManual.pdf (I do not have time to look through the 160 pages to see what the classification you'd need...

    Want to buy an 880

Possible CAD, needs to cut a really big tree, Alaskan mill, compensating for something else..... :D Seriously though, keep your eye on Craigslist, EBay or other similar sites. I was able to find a nice 088, 660 and 046 throughout the years plus some great deals on other equipment from Kijiji.
