I used to work in a cycle shop while in high school and for a full year after I graduated. My boss bought an orange Honda CB750 brand-new. It was a 1973 model. It was beautiful. He let me ride it. That was the 1st big road bike I rode. It looked just like this one:

Prices here in the USA will vary greatly. Best price though, will be buying from a private owner vs. a shop. Take your time and keep an eye out for a good used one. They do exist! Maybe visit some shops and see what theirs are selling for. I'd think that for $1K USD, you could find one that...

Yeah........what GenXer said. You'd sink a lot of money into it before you were satisfied with it. Take a pass on it and watch for something better.

Not much of a need to lean in or counter-steer when riding off road.

My wife has a 2006 Honda Element. The pillars are wide enough to easily block your view of other vehicles. Several times now, we've had to brake hard to avoid them.

I've been riding since age 7 or 8. Started off-road of course and then began racing Moto-X in my early teens, up to and until I enlisted in the military. Got my drivers license @ age 15 1/2 and my M/C endorsement at age 16. I've had a boatload of bikes, too many to recall accurately. I'm 69...
