It’s a damned shame that QC/Tolerances are so sloppy in this day and age! This isn’t some fly by night clone saw. I live with it but don’t have to like it.

Your theory is correct! Cold conditions call for a little tweak to the H screw. (minimum)

I have seen this issue many times. I blame it on poor QC and invariably move on..Rims are formed powdered metal and if the mold is off, the whole production run will be off. (not concentric) Sadly, if you want a 6 dollar rim, it's probably going to have a Chinese heritage. Did somebody say "sloppy"?

Quirky stiff carb diaphragm and quirky air leak are two different things... As previously suggested, pull the muffler for a look at pee stone

If you tighten it while hot, it can get too tight when it cools off.

Remove the muffler cover and enlarge the tiny hole the exhaust is forced to go through. It is probably about the diameter of a pencil. NFG

Is it any better if you slack the chain tensioner a little?

Diaphragms are hard to assess visually. They can get stiff from ethanol fuel and not deliver enough fuel at upper RPM's I had the Echo version. Good little saw, very handy and light. Worth fixing. I would start with a carb. kit.

Fatten up the tune? Lower EGT. Foil tape maybe even double layer.

You could put a Meteor 55 topend on that in a heartbeat. Fun little project...
