It could be a few things but one issue I've seen on 028s is the choke in the air filter. The choke flap is spring loaded and when the carb is sucking at high rpm it pulls the choke shut. Warm up your saw then run it without the filter on and see if it helps. You can pull the spring a little...

You can do it that way. Some saws though don't have a rubber impulse hose to tap into.

Yes they're 44mm. I don't know about new but there are used oem on eBay. I wonder if a 45mm p/c from an 032 would work.

Nice looking saw btw!! Yamabond, hondabond, threebond 1194, dirko. There are a few good sealers out there just be sure they're fuel resistant. When you say the 'dish top', I assume you don't mean the rim that the gasket and diaphragm set on. As a WJ metering lever needs to be set below that...

Just to be clear, as westcoaster90 mentioned, when you went through your carb did you hook the metering diaphragm onto the metering lever? If you simply set the diaphragm onto the carb body ( like you do on most carbs) that would cause the saw to run rich.

I wouldn't be too concerned about the muffler. The 55s didn't come with CATs and they're like an empty soup can with a baffle around the exhaust outlet. A simple mod like rynosawr said above will breathe plenty.

Yes. The hole goes through 3 fins so it's an open port. On the closed port cylinder that hole would go through 6 fins. At least this is case with the op 46mm jug and the cp 45mm cylinders. I can't speak for the op 45mm cylinder though.

One way to check for cp vs. op on the 55 is to pull the top cover and look at the flywheel side rear (intake side) cylinder bolt access hole through the cylinder fins. The hole you'd stick your allen wrench down through to get to that cylinder bolt. On an open port saw that hole goes through 3...

I worked on a 562 last week for a friend. It's a 2014 model with a EL48 carb. I pulled the carb out and cleaned it up but everything looked good inside. Diaphragms, screen etc. all looked good. Piston looked good through the exhaust port. Cold, it would start up and idle and I made 5 cuts...

The 024 stroke is 30mm The 024super and the 026 stroke is 32mm.

Those intake bulkheads get kinda pricey when you have to replace every other one you come across. A heli-coil is a cheap and effective fix. A guy named David Young has a video on youtube 'husqvarna 55 intake repair'.
