I( picked up a Tanaka ECS 415 today, it is the first Tanaka Saw I have ever held in my hand. Purported to have cut wood last fall, missing the choke handle (has a loop ofr wire). Does anyone have any experience using one or any information on known weak areas or problems?

Also picked up this dirty Poulan 3400 at the same time.

My experience is with the ECS3301B. Ultralight top handle. Bulletproof so far. Tanaka is a little-known (in the U.S.) commercial grade engine company, and I'd buy any solid Tanaka I could put my hands on. The Nils power ice augers use Tanaka 2-stroke engines, and they are excellent as well. I got mine for $50-75 (going on memory) used, and it didn't have a mark on it. My absolute go-to saw for arborist work, and for brushing when the landscape requires me to get down and dirty.

Any one you could get your hands on huh?

I got a pretty nice one here. I only had to clean this one up and put a fuel line in it. Had to mod a Mac 10 series fuel line to fit it as the original is NLA and a PITA to change.

Very well made saw with good manners.

Someone gave me a Tanaka ECS 405 that is an awesome screamer with its 14" lo-pro bar. Only complaint I have is the air filter which needs frequent cleaning.
