Some of the online Jonsered dealers are out of stock, or selling out of 2171. Are they going away, soon to be 2175? Anybody know whats going on with them. Thanks.

No rumors about that, that I know of.

It usually takes some time before Husky puts out their newest innovations in the Red and Black dress - and sometimes they simply don't........

Troll is VERY correct about the Husky versions making it into red and black dress.

The 2171, I have heard, will be gone by the end of '08. There are plenty still around here on the east coast. If you want one, buy it. Simple.

This is my opinion and my opinion only: Keep a close eye on the 2255 which I think is currently available in Europe and should make it to the States sometime this year. I think it was macall who started a thread months ago concerning the introduction of 22xx generation Jred saws. Jred.se has a nice campaign intro on their site concerning the 2255. The chassis layout looks very similar to a 575xp. I am going to guess that the Jred 575 will be based on a 22xx chassis. Only time will tell.....

As Troll said, it will take time for Jred versions. That being said, for all the rich and creamy goodness of a 2171, I am actually very excited about the 575xpNE. For all the negative feedback posted about the 575 on this site, I have talked to numerous tree removal guys around here that run the saw. They all seem to love it. Go figure.

Pics of a 575xp don't do it justice. It certainly is a very attractive saw in person, especially with the low filter cover. Also, I am seeing listings for a 575xpgw (full wrap, heated handles). This option, as far as I know, was and is not available on a 2171.

Don't think I have the patience to wait for a Jred 575xp, soooooooo I will be auditioning both the MS441 and the 575xpNE in the upcoming months.

Just my $.02

There are still plentiful as far as I know. I've had no problems ordering them, but I haven't tried in the last month. I do know that 372's were hard to get for a while due to a shortage of cylinders at the factory, which of course affect the 2171 also. It could be just a little interuption in the supply. 372'a are back in stock, but for some reason 357's are out until the second week of May.

Both should be around at least through the end of this year. Once the 575NE and it's unannounced Jonsered cousin are "accepted" in the market, they are supposed to disappear world wide.

So, if you think that you might be one of those guys who wished he got one before they were gone, then this is the year to grab one. Don't be like the Stihl guys who wish they had another chance to get an MS440.

I know that some guys may be rolling their eyes because the 372 was already discontinued 3 times.:dizzy: But the truth is that they have had to hang on to it due to the issues with the early 575's. But at some point it is inevitable that they will go away. I'm going to load up on a bunch of both the 2171 and 372 before they actually get the ax.

What's up with that bar??????

....and forget the 2255 - it is the 455 Ranger in red.......:censored:

simple, he is a logger, that means he uses a saw and not just have it to look at. The best bar for the buck in terms of durabilty and longevity if there is a lot of bore cuts or dirty wood.....

Bar

Thats a 24 inch hard nose I had on hand. I put it on to try it out for length. I was waiting for some one to say something. I think I will run a 24 or 28 inch Total on it. :chainsaw:

The total super bars are the best bar for the money I have found and yet no one here hardly know of them...

I used to get 20" super bars for about 30 bucks and they outlast my oregons and windsors 2-1

oregon

You have a oregon powermatch plus on it in your avatar....what is it a 32"? If you cut alot of hardwood then it will be happier with a 20" powermatch, windsor,GB, etc... But if you cut more softwood then a 24" to 28" would be best. 2171's are nice saws.........I want one.:greenchainsaw:
