Picked up this old STIHL today. For Free !

The pull cord won't retract and I haven't broke it open yet.
Can anybody give me some info on this model ?

What's the L stand for ?

I have one just like it,.

Mine needs a carb kit. But it used to run like a top. My Grandpa bought it new back in late seventies I suppose

My wife's grandpa's dad bought this one new. Sometime in the late 60's , early 70's ? Near as Anyone can remember.

Do you know what the L stands for ?

My dad has one with very little use on it. I've used it to drop trees before. Other than that, it can be a little tempermental.

you would think L would mean limbing as it is a nice little limbing saw. I think L just destines it as a top handle as they also have the 015 av also i believe which is the regular handle I got the same saw for 5 bucks. i'm missing the chain cover though. i'll say one thing the little saw's a beast on compression. I have to tinker with it though its tempermental as mentioned. but hey you can't beat the price and they bring a decent price on ebay too when there running.

I have a 015 AV i believe it was built in the early 70s , the motor is 32 cc (2.0 cu. in.), not a bad little saw.

Good looking example!
I have one too, my dad bought it in the mid 70's I believe.

I've got a top handle model 015 that's really clean, but it needs the ignition module replaced (I have the module, but I've heard that working on the 015 can be tricky). I didn't get a particularily good deal on mine, at least not free or even $5.00.
