Welcome to the site. The gauge of the chain doesn't matter for the sprocket. Just the bar. Many saws of that series were made in Canada. Makes no difference. I've seen quite a few.

so any good ideas as where to look for a clutch cover? i have tried chainsawr and watching evilbay but no luck yet. thanks

I have a good cover off of a XL-800, it is made a little different but will work just the same. I will post some pictures when I get home tonight.

Nice score on the 925, they have plenty enough power to pull 28 inch full comp.

This is what you clutch cover will look like:

Congrats on picking up a great saw . You're asking a question I've wondered about for a few years now. Every 925 I've layed paws on says Canada. Wondering here whether any ever had a made in USA on their UT tag. Some do have a "made in USA" sticker, but not on their UT.

Super XL 925 for parts

I have a 925 with bad bearings. The saw is complete, I bought it at an auction a few years ago and couldn't get it to run. A couple of mechanics said the bearings were bad. Last guy took it apart, but lost interest in locating the new bearings. It has a 20" or 24" bar, I can't remember. Let me know if you want it for parts or to get it running. It is in good shape, not a museum piece, but its solid.
