Traded a guy some quad tires I had for a slightly used ryobi, didnt really need it and dont expect much out of it, but after a little fiddling with it and a quick muffler mod it cuts pretty darn well! (was pretty doggy before the muffler mod) The carb adjustments I had to notch out with a dremel, why cant they just use a regular slotted screw adjuster!!

I've got one of those Ryobi saws, it is far better than a $200 Home Depot saw has any right to be.

I bought the correct driver to adjust the carb, it runs pretty good when it's not starved for fuel.

Pretty much a Homelite 4618 dressed in green. The Homelites don't get much respect around here. Some rank them lower than a Wild Thing.

I've got a 46cc and a couple of 33cc [Homie] versions of that saw and they aren't bad little saws 'til the crank seals go out. The factory seals just don't seem to hold up to the ethanol in the fuel around here.

Still screaming and cutting for me, gonna run her till she dies, everybody laughs when I pull it out of the truck but when we start to cut they're impressed! So maybe I just got really lucky and got a good one I know it still has tons of compression

You'll know right away. They become impossible to start when it happens. It's too bad because they are light and handle pretty well.

I have a bunch of freebies that people have given me cause they won't start. I never have spent the time to see if some other manufacturer uses the same size seal. The Homelite seals are only a couple of bucks but I couldn't see spending money on what is obviously junk seals.

How long have you been using it? Has it cut lots of wood?

I don't know if you can see any kind of markings on the seals that come for it but I bet, you can cross reference it with an SKF, National, or Timken seals. I had to do this recently to find seals for an old Poulan 3400, turns out they are seals used in lots of transmissions. I don't know the markings for brands but if you look it up on the web you should be able to find better ones.

About 8 years ago, I bought a 33cc Ranger [basically the same saw, one size down] for clearing tops. Did 50 or so facecord before the saw quit. Home Depot exchanged it under the 90 warrenty. Next saw lasted about 9 face.

I would like to know the part # for the Poulan 3400 crank seals, as I have 2 3400s, a 3700 and one of the Ryobis that started this thread. TIA, John

Can I ask what #'s are on the seals for the Poulan 3400? I ask, since I have 2 of them, as well as a 3700. John
