Project saw that was in pretty good shape when I got it. Paod $40 for it. Hard to pass that up with good compression. Had spark. Rebuilt the barb and replaced the fuel line. Fired it up, tuned it and cut with it. Problem is, it won't turn off. I have to pop the plug boot off in order to get it to stop.

The tang is making contact with the metal end of the ground wire. I've also checked for continuity from the top and bottom contact of the coil to the tang. I have continuity when the tang touches the ground and no continuity when it isn't touching. Is the ground from the coil gone? Do I need a new coil?

Clean all the contact points with steal wool. You can shut it off easier by putting the choke on FYI.

I assume it's an electronic coil. I also assume it's the original.

Move your ground to the crankcase, not the rear handle.

Also, you are missing the screw in the av mount.
I thought about doing that. I have a switch on hand that will fit the indention in the handle assembly on the right side. I just don't want to drill a hole if the coil is the issue.

That's it. The broken connector is still there. I'll get it fixed up and should be good to go.

It never ceases to amaze me how many electrical problems owners have with chainsaws. I don't think people realize how important electricity is when it comes time for an internal combustion engine to start, run, and shut down. Just MHO.
