I just acquired this saw today. I believe it is a 045 AVE Super II? Most of the writing is rubbed off but Super II is legible. The owner is not a saw person and only knew that it is a Super II.

On the top of the saw between the kill switch and the choke it has a decal that says Super II.
The saw appears to be the same physical size as my 056 Super.

Could be an 056 SuperII (did they exist?), but there was an 045 SuperII as far as I know?

I've never heard of a Super II at all, only the 056 Mag II. They did make 045 Supers and 056 Supers though.

So where on the shroud is the "Super II"?

Looks like there is a label to the rear of the spark plug, that may say Super II - but the pic is a bit unclear. However, there would probably not be such a label there at all, if it was the original Super (like in your pic)?

I have a better picture of the top of the saw but this site says the file is too large to upload.
The "Super II" is below the spark plug.
Chain Saw Collectors Corner website, lisst a 045 AVE Super II. That is the only saw that they show that has Super II anywhere on it.
Maybe I have the only one in existence? hahaha!

Does it have the dual port muffler with 1 port coming out the side above the clutch cover? This doesnt mean anything for your quest to see what you really have but I am just wondering if the 045 supers did. Does it run?

Not sure about the ports, have only ran it once and didn't pay attention. It is at my sawmill now or I would check it out.
It does run, I believe I did good on this saw. I bought it off of craigslist for $125.00.

Mine is not as clean as the two posted on here and has the steel handle on it.
It has a 20" bar on it now but I am looking at putting a 32" or 36" bar on it for occasional use. Any input on this would be appreciated.
My 056 that I just acquired has a bad ignition but it was given to me so I can afford to spend some $ on it. It is a very clean saw.

I figured out how to reduce the size of the pics to get them to load.
I put a pic of the 056 on here just for comparison.
