Our neighbor needed to repair their sewer lateral, and it went through our property. We got home to find that the pipe had hit our Redwood tree, and the group responsible for the replacement had dug at the base of the tree, removing some of the roots 4"+ in diameter to re-direct the pipe. Now they have cut roots around 1/2 of the tree to re-direct the pipe back to the street. They are saying the tree remains stable, but to the naked eye, it looks like a lot of roots are severed and cut coming from the base of this tree. Is this jeopardizing our giant redwood and endangering our home (downhill from the tree)? Thank you!
