Wait, you're wife has her own saw ? Awesome.
I keep mine confined to the kitchen.

Hi Marley, Yep my Wife does indeed have HER OWN SAW, and actually wanted it.:D

My Wife enjoys running the splitter, we usually piggy back the splitter to the woods in the big trailer, and my Wife will split as I buck up rounds for her.
I get the splitter set up near the trailer, and get some rounds piled for her, our system is pretty much Buck while she splits, when she gets a pile of splits I load them, so in production I, Buck , roll her rounds, load splits, Buck roll rounds, load splits, repeat, repeat, repeat............:)

In 2017 on one wood trip, I was limbing with the 23 Compact, a little Top Handle Husky, and my Wife was watching, and said "I Can Do That", and after limbing for awhile she decided that she wanted HER OWN saw, I felt that the 445 was the right Power, weight, Price balance for her, I tried to find a 445 with a 16" B&C, but everyone had the 18" models in stock, so that was what I got her, She got it for Christmas, and was Absolutely Thrilled when she unwrapped it.

I put the 18" B&C on it after she unwrapped it, but I also have 16" and 13" bars that fit her saw and my 353. The first time we went wood cutting with her new saw, I put the 13" B&C on it, so she could get used to visualizing where that bar tip is, to avoid kick back and "Rocking" the chain, She wanted NOTHING to do with that 13" Bar, said it was EMBARRASSING .

Some of her Friends Looked at ME, in a Strange way:confused: when she told them what she got for Christmas, then they gave HER the Strange looks when she said that it was what she WANTED:eek:.

Her Birthday is the second week of January, and she didn't have time to plan the Party she wanted for her 50th, this year, so it was a little late, but in the Firewood section, if you search for "Rae's Flannel Fest 2018" you will find a thread with a bunch of pictures of her party, she decided to do a "Lumber Jill" theme, and we had the Neighborhood lodge well decorated for it, and all the Gals had fun with a theme that few had ever tried before.

Yep, I'm a Lucky Man to have a Wife that Enjoys going wood cutting, she also Enjoys Shooting, Camping, Boating, Is my Favorite Fishing Buddy, and my Best Friend, She is Definitely a "Keeper"

Damn lucky man. I tried three times. The last one was a little bit more like a guy than a gal. I thought now THIS ONE will go camping, cutting wood etc. Nope instead she went to college and got a degree which took five years a day later shoved off. So the Tom boy was a dud. Next a prissy b@tch and she was to domestic to even ride on a lawn mower. After we parted ways I was done trying. Now, I have a lady friend that bought my Echo cs310 and loves it. She's fantastic to be around but at the end of the day she goes home to her husband and takes her saw with her. Any guy who has a good wife is lucky. One that actually spends time with him is very lucky. However, after living alone for many years I feel lucky NOT having anyone in my house but me. To you happily married, congratulations.

Yep, I KNOW that I am Lucky to have met her, I read posts here and on other forums, about others that weren't as fortunate, and their replies, I've been tempted to Auction her off;), but there ain't no amount of Money worth that, she is Definitely a keeper:):):)

I have felt some of your pain before I met my Wife, and I can understand how living alone IS Better than living with the WRONG person, fortunately I always figured it out BEFORE getting Married to them, but a couple times, I stayed looooooonger than I should have. Marriage isn't for everyone, and it isn't for anyone, if you're with the wrong spouse.

After running a stihl 440 for a long time anything less seems like junk. Then after rebuilding one of mine and modifying it, that stocker feels like junk.

If your working it for a living you may as well run the best for the task at all times. Good saws are dirt cheap when you think about the revenue one can generate before its “used up” . I’m a pretty small firewood guy these days and I can pay off pretty much any big stihl with just 1 saturdays work. Something unreliable could cost a guy like me $1200 in 1 day.

I have no experience with homeowner grade stuff. I’d be betting that it’s worth the extra money for a homeowner to own a good one too so it actually works when they need it. I bought a stihl homeowner weed eater and it was as big of a pos as any of the $80 “weedeater” brand ones.

I hear what you're saying, I'm a Truck Driver, and by Chance my Step-Father was the Parts Dept. Manager at the local Kenworth dealer for many years before he retired, He used tell me all the time about how (Back then) guys would complain about a New Truck Tractor would cost $100-120,000, but yet they drove there in a Pick Up truck that cost $45,000+.

Gee, $120,000 for a Truck, that PAYS for itself, your Mortgage, Food, Utility Bills AND that $45,000 Pick Up, which is just another bill, not generating any revenue, in most cases:rolleyes:.

Now days, the prices of pick ups, are climbing Faster than the price of Class 8 OTR Tractors, and they are Stihl Selling :surprised3::(

I was clearing brush from a 1200 foot fence line and I needed a saw to cut down to ground level where sometimes I had to get it down in the dirt. Bought a cheap $99.00 Poland because I knew by the time I was finished it would be trash.
The biggest complaint is the chain would never stay tight for more then a few cuts. It did the job but the bar, chain, and sprocket were all toast from the grit. It had a manual bar oil bulb that was a pain in the but. Parts of the plastic housing melted from the heat. It was worth the 99 bucks for a throw away saw. The motor ran fine even after the drive line was destroyed from all the grit.

I got a wild thing 1950 model number it's ran 14 years with 0 trouble I cut top with it I heat a shop and house with wood about 10 loads for the shop and 4 or so for the house just short of a cord each load I put gas lines on it and that's it mix 50 to 1 Casey's has tore up more 2 strokes around here because of the high alcohol in it ever year I decarbon all my saws and the piston looks pretty new still I think poulan is ok by me probably going to catch hell over this.

I think you have a valid point. The Poulan 2150 type 4 I think that I inherited was a sweet cutting machine. This one didn't have a chain brake. The newer model did so I ordered one. It came in the mail. Red color. Husquvarna name on the invoice.
Replaced filters, bulb, gas lines and used it for a climbing saw. Just gave it away because it has no AV. It's better built in some ways than my Echo cs352. It has a REAL metal chain catcher. I just broke the cheap plastic chain catcher off the side plate of the cs352. Snapped clean off when a twig caught in the chain tossing the chain. First time I've lost a chain on this saw. Side plate looks just fine. There wasn't much holding it. If they made the new Poulan with AV and built it like an old 2150 with a chain brake for 150 bucks, I'd recommend it to others. But, the crappy Ryobi 14 inch 37 cc saw was the worst thing ever. Oh at first it impressed me but it was burned up in 6 hours. When I pulled the cover the plastic reminded me of a plastic bottle. The carb boot looked flimsy. The innards had that cheap look. I boxed it up, returned it and bought an Echo.
The complaint I have about the Echo cs352 is the Choke is to small with Gloves on, the off switch gets flipped off by my chaps, and a cheezy side plate and with plastic chain catch to catch the chain if it jumps. That's isn't a real chain catcher. Chain catchers should be metal. Otherwise I am impressed with the cs352. I actually did a plunge cut with it today.
Looking at the small Sthil they also have plastic chain catchers.
Good day.

Stihl 048 I cut timber for many years using mostly Stihl with a few Mac, Husky, and Pioneer. Stihl really blew it on this one. Only bad Stihl I ever owned. No chain speed, no power. I tried to use it for about a month and then sold it to the company I was working for . I got 50 bucks out of it. The kid that had the job of using it on the landing had the loader operator throw a log on it and that's the end of the story.

druzhba chainsaw ;o)

Looks reaaallll handy for cutting.

if ya ever get up this way, got a healthy one you can try.

I had one of the previously mentioned 32 series Mcculloch saws. The only time it ran right was the first time. After that day it would start fine cold, but wow did it take some work to get it to run after it was warm. I gave it to a friend of mine who said "This starts fine" i told him "did you try it warm"? He loaned it to his brother and has forgotten to ask for it back.
