How many of you use one on your saws?

I saw this one on E-Bay and it caught my attention.

So is this for when you really, really need to add more weight to your saw.

Seems like the skidplate would go great with gigantic spikes too.

Somehow, it's supposed to protect the fuel tank and keep the handle assembly from breaking.

It's made of aluminum, so it's not all that heavy.

It is for some saw users that don't take the utmost care of fine machines, those that throw them in the backs of trucks and log trailers like loggers and stuff!

I wonder if I put one on my 044 way back when, it wouldn't be cracked now

If I were running a crew, and supplying saws, and if those saws were 044/ 440s (or 046/ 460s), I'd probably invest in some of those.

Some saws are very prone to the handles cracking. So the plate can either prevent it from happening or add strength to an already compromised handle. I have an 044 with a cracked rear handle and have considered acquiring one. Just don't want to spend the coin on it though.

$30 is a lot cheaper than a new 044 handle... Wait, you can't get a new 044 handle.

Saw that on eBay. Seemed pretty reasonable for saws that are used hard. There is also a company called 'Saw Armor' that sells similar stuff for saws used by fire services. Theirs was a lot more $.

I have one one an 660, helps a little, very, very light. I do let friends use my stuff, helps when you loan that saw to a knuckle dragging saw abuser!!!

I thought that was what the MS290/310/390xps were for,

Must be a Stihl thing, never heard of a skid plate for Husky, maybe they dont need them.

Do they have long travel A/V mounts to go along with those? Maybe some lights to mount on the front handle bar, and a 6" chrome vertical exhaust pipe too.

Husky needs them the most. Maybe adding one of these to a husky it would sit upright
