This is what I'm using at the moment. Then again, small is relative.

That first rig could get nasty. Plus the added pressure on your arms from holding back them limbs gets old fast. I cut most of my stuff in the field. Why handle the same piece two or three times to cut it that way.

Before I'd make something like that, I'd mount a chain saw on a buzz saw table where I could have some control over the branches or more like the second rig.

Somesaw guy has them all beat... Way to Go!!

That's why I dug my granfather's old buzz saw out of the weeds, cleaned it up and painted it. Oh yeah, the engine was locked up so I found an old 8hp in the shop to put on it.

Wow. We just feed them toothpicks to the chipper. Does not seem worth your time or fuel to fool with them.

Those were from helping the neighbor out with a few trees that had way too many small branches. They do add up, but you're right about it not really being worth it.

They do make good kindling though. :D

Info

I bought a V chop saw put a all purpose blade on it. It works great with the all purpose blade you run into a nail or horse shoe it does not know the difference between wood or metal. Late. Most of the time I use small stuff for fill.

Yea, some of that small stuff was real small. Once those limbs push that accelerating bar and the chain starts pushing it forward there is nothing that needs to be done other than holding up your side of the limb. Looks really easy and quick, I just don't have time to build one myself.

Mom and dad got me one of these for Christmas Wel-Bilt Saw Horse with Chain Saw Holder | Chain Saw Accessories | Northern Tool + Equipment, Only thing I have to saw is Damm wish I would have had something like this yrs. ago. Its simply and easy to use, can kick out a decent amount on short period of time and I really like the bar protector, allows me to let my son work with me as he can load the saw horse, stack the cut sections and Im not as worried about him (his 10) being around a moving chain. Well worth the money IMO.

My buddy uses something like this. I just can't stand to watch him work with it. In the time he picks up the wood stacks it in the cradle, I could have the wood all cut up with a saw just picking though the pile. I use a 20" bar, but a 24" would be better. That way I wouldn't have to bend over as much. A 24" bar and chain wouldn't be bad on a 40-50cc saw if all you are doing is cutting up little stuff. Less than $50 I bet, and plenty safe.
