I use the Fast-Tach. It's got a high refresh rate. About $85.

Yep get a .5 second refresh rate and dont waste your money on the slower ones. JMO

Still learn to tune by ear and just use tach to check yourself IMO too.

That is where I got mine as well.

I had another cheap model that would work to some degree but nothing like the fast tach.

Fast Tach Mod

I never felt comfortable running the saw while hanging onto the Fast Tach because i couldn't wrap my thumb around the handlebar. I made this out of a piece of bar scabbard I had laying around and a Twist N Stay. Just screwed it into the back of the tach with the screws that hold the back cover on. When I previewed the post the embedded pics are tiny, sorry I don't know how to make them bigger.
