Thank you. Couple years ago I had the honor of using a 266xp, that's what made me fall in love with the Huskies.

I just picked up a 371xp and I'm in the process of maintenance on it. I'm welcome to anybody's advice.

I do a thorough cleaning and checkup when I get a used saw like this. I take off the muffler to check the piston, pull the clutch and flywheel to look at seals, open the chainbrake up and clean all the areas around the cylinder and in the fins. I look for ridgid or cracked lines, stripped threads and broken metal parts on the case and cylinder. Depending on how much I find I may pull the cylinder and carb off as well. I sometimes replace seals, lines, rings and pistons just because they give me a bad feeling.

Once I get it all buttoned up again I put it to work and make sure it cuts like it’s supposed to. After a couple tanks the fun begins. Muffler mods, carb swaps, port work. Accessorizing. Maybe nicer plastics.

I like that part almost as much as cutting!

Well I'm not a pistonologist, but I don't think this looks very good.

Guess I'm just going to have to go with a 52 mm Big Bore...

Well the cylinder does still look pretty good, 51.4 you say?

I have absolutely no plans to ever sell this chainsaw what I'm most concerned about is performance and longevity.

I do want to thank you for your advice and your Insight, that's definitely going to help me on my journey to learn this chainsaw inside and out.
