Jonsered 670 Champ

Hey guys. I have a chance to buy a Jonsered 670 Champ for $150. It's said to be in good running condition. I know they are high horsepower saws, but is it worth the money. Also this may sound silly but to me they look a lot like a Husqvarna. Are they affiliated? Anyway, give me your opinions on the saw and whether or not I should snatch it up or pass. Thanks guys!

built from 86 to 97 and they are 66.8 cc's ,50 mm bore made in sweden. offer him a 125.00. i have owned 2

Yep exactly what he said.......$150 doesn't buy much in the saw world....especially with a B&C.....plenty of parts around....Champ and Super IIs were the very best of the family....being the latest versions.....do it....there is a reason they're called the Champ!!!!

Really depends on your area and how popular Jonsereds are there, dealer support etc. Ebay the Champs always bring good $$$...

Thanks for the reply. I appreciate it. I may take the risk and see if I can make a buck on one of them to buy new filters and such for the one I decide to keep.

I usually get $300 for good running 670/630's, but they have a very good rep in my neck of the woods.

Yep that's what I get for one in good looking and good running condition aground here too.....but hard to find one that looks good....most have a lot of..."experience" and show it, though they might run strong and operate perfectly. Excellent saws...

Those are sharp looking saws Eric......alas.....most of ones I see around here look more like the one the OP posted....doesn't mean they are still not good running saws...just show their "experience"...

In the heavily used shape with nothing missing or broken. I get 200-250 ish out of them. Parts can be tricky but available. Lots of parts swap from other huskys. It is by far my favorite saw to buy run and build.

That's a good answer Eric......Gotta tell this story as it pertains somewhat. Back in 1989 this guy moves into town.......has piles of money....bought a big old, real nice farmhouse...lotsa toys etc. So he buys two Harley Fatboys.....crate shipped to his house...no dealer prep...he gets one unpacked and running....nice ride...first year for Fatboy....only produced with silver paint. So there was an old fella, lived at the bottom of Surry Hill....had a beautiful 1954 Panhead Harley....bone stock original....rode it down the neck road once a year.....every year. So...this guy with the Fatboy saw that panhead and lusted after it hard. He stops one day on his bike as the old guy was out in his driveway tinkering on something and asks about perhaps buying the pan.....ol' fella says it's not for sale...not to deterred he continues to try to acquire it and finally says "I got this brand first year Fatboy right here with 200 miles on it.......I'll trade ya even up"......ol' fella scratched his chin and says "Can you get any more of those?"....the guy says "Yeah...they're real pricey" "I bet" the ol' fella nods to the panhead and says "You know...you can't get anymore those"
