I bought this saw from a guy on Craigslist with the intention of keeping it for myself. He told me that it was used to cut up 2 large oak trees that came down in his yard. Since I got it, I've run about 3 tanks through it. I have not had any problems whatsoever. Starts on first or second pull, even when it's 10 degrees outside. Revs and idles just the way it should. The reason I'm selling it is I've recently come down with a case of PSA, and I need money to support this terrible addiction [emoji6]

The saw is not new, but in very nice shape. No cracks in plastics. Minor scuffs and scrapes you'd expect to see on a lightly used saw. There is a small dent on the front of the muffler. Compression reads close to 160 on my actron tester with the engine cold.

UPDATE:
The factory paint on the handlebar was chipping away, so I decided to refinish it. I sanded it first to remove all of the original finish. I then prepped the surface with a degreaser, primed with self-etching primer, and painted with gloss black paint. The finish was then baked in front of my wood stove for 16hrs. Hopefully this stuff holds up better than the factory finish.

I'm looking to get $740+shipping for PHO or $785+shipping with the 24" tsumura bar pictured.

How about $750 shipped PHO? $795 with the bar.... (Lower 48 states)

The only trade that I might be interested in is a near mint ported 562xp with EL48 carb and no hesitation issues.

I really don't want to sell it. These 2188's are powerhouses. But.... I really want a ported 562 that isn't plagued with carb issues.

Btw, thanks for the tip last week. I have a certain Masterminded 365/372 on the way, thanks to you.... ;)

If it was me....I'd be looking 550 and skipping 562...then again...I'd be keepin that 2188. That is such a great all around saw...run anything from 20" to 32" and never leave ya short on balls or sore.
GLWS !!!

I already have a brand new 550xp from mesupra. While I really love this 2188, it just seems to be overkill for what I do. Most of the stuff I cut is less than 25", and the ported 365 will handle that with ease. I really liked the ergonomics of my 562, just couldn't stand the hesitation off idle. So my plan is to buy a new woods ported 562 from a site sponsor that will stand behind what they sell me. I can only imagine the power that a ported 562 produces.

Sounds like a plan .
Every time I say "I don't really need a big saw" a big oak shows up needing chopping up.

You're making me second guess myself. Lol.
It is a great saw with awesome power. It's really not all that much heavier than the 372 either. Lots more power though. I believe the factory has this saw rated for 6.5HP

I love my 372 for its power to weight....I love my 385 more for its more power for only a little bit more weight and it just feels smoother to me, like a gentlemens saw. Maybe nobody else will want this saw and you get to keep it !!!!!
Yea!!!!

That looks like the one from Gardner, the ad was up for only 2 hours! Serious score!

This one actually came from a guy in NW CT, not mass. I must have missed the one in Gardner. Can't get'em all! I actually miss out on 95% of the saws that I want on CL. people usually snatch them up before I can get there....

$750 shipped PHO $795 w/24" tsumura bar and chain (Lower 48)

Somebody must have a spot this saw. It's just a little big for what I need.

Maybe the opposite could be true for me? Buy a big saw and it will attract big timber. Just like fishing, bigger bait = bigger fish. :baba:

Bingo !!!
and that's my point...a 385/390/ 2188 is a small saw that handles a big bar well.....well enough to say its a "big saw" but not feel like it. !!

Too late...he's already proving the "this saw is too good to sell " theory. ..[emoji1]

Plus this is a tough time of the year for saw sales....
Yeah, not a lot of extra money floating around right after the holidays.
I ran the saw again for a bit today. It really doesn't have the heft you'd expect from a 88cc saw, but it sure does have the power. I don't have a log here big enough to slow it down. I ran it through some 24" red oak like it was a hot knife on butter. I really don't think this saw would have any trouble pushing a 28"-32" bar on a regular basis. The 24" feels comparable to a 16" on a 372.
