I didn't get into the machine shop to do mine yesterday I was told I had to do other things

I was wondering if anyone had pic's of the inside of this muffer

Looking at it from the outside I want to mill out the three lines below the screws are on the outside of it (dont know if that sounds right)

Oh boy, Oh boy!!! This is one I'm going to be watching closely!

I love the idea (looks aspect) of the mod,BUT, I would be afraid of wood-chips and crap flying at me...or the log wanting to burn prematurely .

Nope....none of that at all. Since the stock exhaust port is still entact and the opening is wide the gases are distibuted enough that no burning occurs. I didnt see any chips fly either as they come out from under the saw not in front. But i will admit that i didnt park it on top of a chip pile and run it :)

Its important to test the direction of exhast gases so they do not shoot out into the log or at the crankcase - needs to come out at a 45 degree angle.

I take it that was your 441C-M in the vid? I'm wondering how my standard would respond to that mod? (having to tune and such).

Sorry H 2 H. Should have started a Thread for this.

This is a saw that is a pain in my ass to MM. I'm thinking about installing a plate on the front with a screened smiley face milled into in.

Wish I could find one that didn't have those lines in it; then it would be easy to design something

It is stainless so one idea I had was to cut the section under the screws out and weld in another flat piece in there and then go to town on a design

Believe it was Fatguy who milled in the Stihl name on a 026; I was think that and MS 261 under it if I weld in another flat section on it

I havent even had time to take the muffler off the saw yet been busy get ready for sprint car season and cutting firewood with it

See what happens when you get CAD :)

My buddy owns a ms261 that bsnelling modified and he installed a few "shark fins" on the recoil side of the muffler. It looks really good although i dont believe that mod provides a significant amount of additional exhaust outlet area.

One of the biggest pains of that muffler is the recoil side of the muffler is not flat to install an additional deflector. If i were to try it again i would attempt to heat up the muffler and uncrimp it it. Then, i would carefully enlargen the factory outlet from the inside and recrimp.
