Concerning the same tree I posted about a while back here: http://www.arboristsite.com/showthread.php?p=1383325
The other day I was walking by and spotted this:
I started poking around with a small screwdriver and found a lot of small, white, fast moving worms swimming in the clear fluid coming from the tree. I tried cutting the worms with the screwdriver, but they're pretty tough and extremely fast!
I sprayed some brake cleaner (toluene) on it and managed to kill many of the worms. I've found that brake cleaner kills insects instantly, but doesn't seem to bother plants. And it evaporates completely in a few seconds.
Anyway, I threw a couple worms on the scanner bed:
They don't look like any wood eating thing I've ever seen. Does anyone know what they are?
What should I do? I can't use permethrin.... Its highly toxic to cats and I have a number of those critters running about. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Permethrin
