Just picked up one of these babies for $40 and have had fun today. Took it apart and did some extreme cleaning. This Logmaster version has an outboard gear box w/ a 3.56:1 reduction. Slow as $#!% It also leaks oil, and even grease that I put in once it ran out. Won't be running it often, as it vibrates like heck! :hmm3grin2orange: I love it though. Sharpened the chain enough to get the rust off with the dremel tool, and will have to buy some real files tomorrow. This 9/16 chain sure is sweet! Cleaned and re-gapped the points and now am producing an extremely fat blue spark. With no cover, that thing REALLY surprised me when I let my finger touch while it was running. I can't seem to find much info on this saw, but I presume it had a clutch. Well this one doesn't as what looks like a homemade 4 pronged disc is in the center and 2 whole, 1 broken, and 1 missing welded in pieces of metal. This basically makes it a very "direct drive" saw, and you can see the chain moving in the video. Cut with the somewhat sharp chain, and man was it fun. after two cuts, the gear box ran out of oil, so I cut it short. Fun Fun! Anybody else have one of these suckers? :chainsawguy: Enjoy the pics.
