That saw is a beauty Ted. I would have snatched it up, just didn't get to it quick enough. Lots of love for these Dolmars, just wish the parts availability/ dealer support was better. Wouldn't have any problem cutting firewood with one of those day in and day out. Love my little 111, but definitely isn't a beauty queen.

Thank you ...

One of the very first saws I ever got was a 111i .... when I got it, every open cavity of any kind inside that saw was stuffed with oily mung. Cleaned it out well and that saw ran really nice. I regret to this day that I ever sold it.

I have little problem getting parts from Edge & Engine. eBay or Chainsawr as a backup plan.

I've seen pretty good parts availability on eBay. I found the oil/gas/handle assembly with AV mounts for 10. It's silver in color so I've had reservations.

That's purty. Even the clutch cover looks good.

SD made a few 112s with a black/silver color scheme. If you search around here a bit, you'll find some pix.

YUP!

Ole Jerry from up Nova Scotia way has a real nice on

Good saws, I just prefer my SDs 4 cubes or larger, although I have a special place in me heart for the 5100.

I'm gonna have a red and silver...maybe I'll strip the clutch cover and it'll be silver too.

One thing to watch out for .... the black/silver versions had a different rear handle setup IIRC. Can't switch them out with the red saws, I don't think.

Oh really? Hmmm guess I will find out then.

I'm working on a 112 for my brother who gave it to me because it wouldn't start. He thought it was the fuel line but it looks okay to me. Tried to start it today and it wouldn't go. Pulled the plug, it was wet. Heated it dry and tested for spark. Had spark. Did a compression test and got about 90 psi. That seems low to me. Is that low enough not to run and in which case, do all I need to replace is the ring(s)? Anything else? Gaskets?

90 would make it pretty hard to run. It depends on why it only has 90 psi. If the cylinder is good, the new rings should do it. I lean towards replacing gaskets, but you'll know if its shot when you take it off.

Thanks. I figured if I had spark and fuel then it had to be compression. Where can I find a ring for it? Are there two or just one? I'm fairly mechanically inclined for a home owner but haven't rebuilt a saw before.

Mine is not prettiest 112 but she still has pretty good compression. I notice a few of the saws posted are missing the plug for the carb adjustment port on the left side.

The few I have pulled down had one ring on them. Do you have a Dolmar dealer in your area? They can get you a ring. We cannot give you a link to a dealer unless they are a site sponsor.

eBay has rings available.

BTY has a pretty darn good looking saw there, with great compression.
