I want to purchase a tachometer. I think Brad is using a Fast-Tach in one of his videos and that is a good endorsement for that particular tach. Any opinions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

My fast tach was working fine for a year or so .......... but now it acts real wonky.
I picked up a Hardline tach ........... wrap the wire around the plug wire and good to go ......... no more wonky readings !!!

I have a fast tach and it does fine. If you have trouble with it they'll usually take care of you.

Not necessarily, I am in Ontario as well and they have stopped sending me emails and did not solve my issue. When they work they work well.. but when you have an issue, in my case, it was too bad so sad.
http://www.sicdronero.com/catalogo/RF4_RF5.pdf I got the RF4 and it works just great. Maybe one day fast tach will send me mine back repaired.

Fast-Tach here, no problems so far, had it for two years there about

Does anyone know if the fast tach is still available and how much they run? Their website doesn't seem to work. Is there a contact phone number for this company? Thx

I kinda get the impression the Tiny Tach is the one to go with. Also on Baileys there are brand name tach, in addition to a Oregon needle type gauge. Anyone have any experience with the Oregon. Looks like it maybe hard to read but possible more accurate?

Look at the specs. Most of the ones mentioned will probably meet your needs for tuning a chainsaw, but features vary.

Some tachs are physically smaller, and can be attached to a saw (if you want to do that). Some have an optional cable for direct connection, in case you have interference with the wireless reading. Some have non-replaceable batteries - you replace the whole unit after 5 (+/-) years. So some of it depends on how you intend to use it, and how long you plan to keep it.

The replaceable battery was important to me, and I see it as a bench/shop tool, so I went with those features over the smaller size models.
