New to the board, so be easy on me. :)) I've had this saw for almost 20 years and no problems other than a new carb until now. It drains the oil tank when it is sitting in its case. It does not oil the bar that I can see. Took the clutch out and it looks like the spring that is for the oiler not be active when the chain is not turning broke and it wore a hole in the case right where the oil pump is and oil is leaking out that very hole. My question is.......... could there be a way to repair this hole? I don't know what would stick to this plastic. Is a new case the only option? Should I just get a new saw? Pict below.

Clean it up and JB weld it.

I think the risk is it flowing into the oil passage............... Perhaps put it on and then turn it upside down, so no flow that direction.

Maybe lay a little piece of screen in the jb to help strengthen the repair. Also you'll have to unscrew the clutch spider to get the worm off.

So it was the title that got ya here? Glad that worked. :) I have an air gun and thanks for that warning. I'll post some picts after my Jb job if it's presentable. Well then I guess there will not be a pict.

It will come right off with the plug in you dont need to block it up if you have a gun. Make sure you go clockwise for off it is reverse thread.

I found a product called Plast-aid to repair the fiberglass in my hot tub. It comes in two parts, a dry powder and an epoxy like liquid. When mixed together it cures to a rock hard surface, it can be formed with your fingers as it sets up. Just don't wait too long as it cures in 10 minutes, once hard there is no more forming it. Once cured it can be drilled, screwed into, ect.

Sorry to hijack this thread but when you say air gun, do you mean an air impact wrench? Or is this an other tool? This really intrigues me. Why would an air gun make a difference? I would think it would spin the piston anyway.

Sell it as is. You will probably get at least 100$ on it just because it has the legendary name on it. And use the money plus a little more to get a dolmar 421. A 42cc built like a pro saw that behaves like a 50cc. Should be able to get it for around three bills!
