Hello all someone left this at my house today. Missing recoil and I think everything for a chain brake. Along with bar nuts and sprocket. Cylinder is good piston shot. What would you do

Check eBay for parts. Get them all and have fun.... cylinder and piston: get Chinese package deal lots of parts including more than you need for $40. Be sure to get the bigger bore size for the bigger displacement upgrade to super. It fits. You should have the Stihl T- 27 wrench to get the cylinder screws out, though a narrow extention with a 25 will work. I think a gasket comes with the cylinder kit. ring comes too, don't break it putting it on. brake: used kits are ok, just be sure you get all the parts. the hardest part of the rebuild: stretching the spring over the post... it will go, be patient. Recoil get the whole recoil cover as one with the screws; get the right screws to fasten it, including the one with the so called "washer" goes under the chain break handle.... you need the cover and thin metal chain guide for the side facing us in the pic with the screws, and the sprocket, with washer and clip to hold it on. Total probably buck and a half plus or minus including bar and chain. Be ready for a carb rebuild

Only bad part is this week I ended up with a running 031av a 032 needing a recoil a 036 pro that's running good all for $200 and now this saw already have a toasted 036 and a good poulan 3400 and mcculloch sp70 wife said time to sell a few but I think I should get them working good before selling otherwise don't think I'll get anything

Any saw that needs as many parts and the amount of work this saw the OP has posted will end up eating up the value of what a good runner can be had for. If building it for ones self to keep then it will just be a project and some fun but there won`t be much profit in a saw needing that much parts and time to get it ready for selling.

Pioneer I agree just trying to decide should I sell it whole as a parts saw or take the time to take it apart and sell it that way . If i do Anything thT is worth saving for my 036's never parted a saw out before

It would depend on how much time you have on your hands..much quicker to just sell the saw but maybe not as much money, but who knows?

Part it out on e-bay, you will make a lot more than you think.

Trade it to someone that has some 034/036 bits laying around. You can pick up some parts/bars/chains for saws you have and want to run and someone else can do the work/parts buying.

I have a hard time selling saws even when I buy them specifically for that purpose. After fixing them my CAD kicks in and they become family. Selling parts never appealed to me, although I'm sure there's money in it. Fix it and go cut some wood.

When you buy a saw that needs fixing up for a decent price and you sink some money and time in it at least when you're done you know what you have. It might be better to have a saw like that than to buy a complete saw for $300 and not know what shape the internals are in..

I totally follow the logic!!! Sling sum chips !!! What's CAD???

You got it all tore down already of did you just rip the jug off to see the cylinder??? I bought the new jug and plug on sale awhile back and then kinda over Paid for a 034 on eBay ... No chain break... It's top handle and covers aren't as clean as yours??? I might buy it from you if you go that route.... Your handle is much better... It still has the black grip....man! It came with a 25"Stihl bar with a skip chain on it!!! I threw that on my 391 and put the 20 incher in the 034... It's really ugly but runs great so I think I'll run it as it is... It pulls that 20" inch bar ok ... It's a good firewood saw and for riding in the Landscspe truck... I don't have the hookup yet on used Stihl bars but I'll be watching eBay for like a 16"er....?

I just paid $24-$25 bucks for one of the Meteor Pistons from SHL or SLH parts supply in Florida??? And I bought a five pack of the cheap fuel lines and impulse lines for the 034/036 saws... If you need those ill send them to you... I know their not oem but they look like their gonna work for me... And I got extras, dude? The aftermarket chain brake handle was about $10-$12 bucks from Huztl or however you spell that Chinese joint???

About your fuel lines. I hope they are better then the 10 pack I bought off ebay. I tried 3, the best 1 did was almost 1 tank of fuel. The end with the pick up would rapidly soften or crack and the pick up would fall off. Wasted a lot of time with the problems and purchasing oem after all. Possibly u received a better line, but I'd look watch them carefully when using them.

I had that happen on an 029. I've had decent luck on the 025s I rebuilt. I still have the 029 fuel lines, may cut them up and just use the grommets and some tygon lines. I ended up using an Oregon fuel line on my 029, seemed to work well and less expensive than OEM.
