Looking at a super clean very little run time one owner 038 super with Stihl 24 inch bar. Asking price is 400.00 worth the price? Thanks!

$400 is what i paid for mine. It was a relatves and i know it only had a few tanks throug it when i got it. Mines a magnum though.

If in good shape and no scoringing in cylinder. Id sat ya its worth it.

remember these guys are talking USD though.

I love my 038M. If I could find a clean 038S for $400, I'd likely buy it.
Those saws are torque monsters.

For that money you could buy a decent 044 or 372xp.

I had one awhile back, had to sit on it awhile and finally took 200 bucks for it. P/C were perfect, plastics a little rough, brand new fuel tank assembly.

Not a bad saw by any means though.

If I came across an 038M in the same shape as this one, for $400, I'd jump on it. I bought this one new in the 80's and for a long time was my only saw. It has never let me down and other than normal maintenance and parts replacement, has had nothing done to it. If it was still my only saw, I wouldn't feel cheated.

I'll try again to put up a pic of mine, a little rough but I did get it to go today. I did a little repair on the cracked rear handle, not pretty but it's pretty strong, I filled in the underside of the handle with military grade epoxy. No top plastics came with the saw so I had to go AM with those..038-1.JPG This one wouldn't go for anywhere near $400. It is a Magnum however, 52mm P/C, no decomp.
