Stihl Cant Hook

Anybody use a Stihl brand cant hook? What are your thoughts? Are they worth the $$$$?

As I understand, they are actually made by Logrite ( LogRite Tools logging tools ). I don't own one yet, but they do get good reviews by people who do. Perhaps check with a Logrite dealer and see if they are any cheaper?

They are Logrite can't hooks that are painted and labeled for Stihl. I have a 42" and a 60" extreme from Logrite and they are great. Much improved over the old wood handled can't hooks. I think th Stihl version of the Logrite us about $35 or $40 more if I remember right

Looks like the logrite cant hooks are a bit cheaper. The stihl 60" cant hook is $138 vs the logrite cant hook is $108, a $30 difference.
I use 2 antique peaveys that I bought for $10 for the pair. I turned some new handles with straight grained white oak and I've had them both for 12 years now. I'm not nice to them either, I use them as pry bars with shims instead of using the manual toe boards on my LT40.

yes i have one of the wood handle ones from Stihl, gets a lot of use and abuse and holds up well.

I thought they looked like the logrite tools! I would like to get the logrite instead of the Stihl, but with shipping they wind up being about the same price and I can get the Stihl locally. What diameter log is max. for these cant hooks? I am in the process of building a timber frame addition onto my house and I using whole logs. I need to move a couple 26' long 18"to20" diameter pine logs for the main support beams!

I called Log Rite a few years ago and verified that they did make the Stihl branded tools. Worth the money though they can be bent.

I understand that the Logrite tools have a lifetime warranty on the handles so in case you do bend one it should be replaced. What amazed me with the Logrite cant hooks is how well they bite the log and the amount of force you van apply to the it.

I have a large Logrite cant hook and I sure would not ever go back to a wooden one. A very large Amish fellow bent it at a walnut sawmill ............... I made him bend it back, LOL.

I have two Log rites. Love them.

I just ordered the 60" Logrite cant hook. I will probably get the timberjack stand too.
