Looked up this tach on their web site, A question, Do you have to coil the pick up wire around the plug lead on each saw you check or is there an easier way [ just a clip maybe] seem a bit fiddly to have to do this each time
I agree that the Fast-Tach is the one to get. It is very easy to use (because it's wireless), it provides consistent readings, and it is accurate even at very high RPMs. It's certainly worth the price.
I bought it at Edge & Engine (follow the link above). Great service!

I can also use the Fast Tach to check spark. Just position near the plug wire when pulling the cord. If you see numbers appear, you have spark.

DTI-20K $89 cable or inductive pickup, .5 refresh rate, replaceable battery. I also have PET1000,3000 and Stihl EDT5. DTI best buy. RPM's 0-20k and fastest refresh rate

Wow, that's very clever--I hadn't thought of that! I recently pulled my plug to check for spark. I could have just used my Fast-Tach!
Thanks for the great suggestion. :msp_thumbup: I learn something on this site every day.
