Hey guys,
Newbie to carb tuning and so i went to read the forums I could find through the search function. The ones I found gave me the info on how to do dial it in. Most suggested a Tach to tune your High RPM screw with. What Tach are ya'll using? I read about a DTI and a Stihl dtd5 or 6...??? I read the DTI had a function to recall the highest rpm which sounded handy since you'd probably miss the highest rpm not wanting to stay there too long and all. Well anyhow those posts were 4+ years old. I was wondering if anything has changed in model numbers on these? I tried to look up the DTI TK20??? (w/e) and couldn't find much. Same with the Stihl brand one. I guess I don't mind if it's wireless or not just so long as I can have a max rpm recall button. I only cut 5-10cords a year but do fix-it work for friends and it's about time I learned to tune a carb all by myself...

Please let me know what your using and what they cost... even a link would be good. Like I said I looked around on the internet and didn't find much but I'm guessing that's b/c there are new model tachs out.

Thanks!
Nathan

Go to Edge and Engine (a site sponsor) and search tachometer.

Fast Tach (a favorite here) $85 + ship

Some prefer the: Tech Tach TT-20K also $85 + ship

Both are made by the same company...just some different features on each

Thanks guys! I'll put it on the christmas list if anyone hasn't bought it I might use some christmas money!

Ok so this is going to make me sound like a complete novice but how do you tell the difference between a the "H" and "L" adjustment screws???

Normally, the H and L screws would be marked on the plastic bodywork of the saw. If my memory serves me correctly, the screw closest to the engine is the L screw.

I've got a TinyTach made for KTM service shops. I used to work for KTM NorthAmerica and picked one up then.

I use my Karting Gauge, it's Mychron 4. I'm only using it as tach but I guess I could use the temp function too.
