I believe I have found the problem with the Red Xs appearing instead of pictures. At our thread for the four state GTG my pictures were showing up as Red Xs for most of the users (see http://www.arboristsite.com/showthread.php?t=98268&page=14). I tried lots of ways to get them to show up but finally went to "EDIT" and reloaded them that way. All worked fine until I tried to clear my "Manage Attachments" control window:
I discovered that if I chose "remove" in order to load more images it actually removed the image from the site not just from that window. So, for me, it was an operator's error not a site error. Hope this helps others as it has caused me a lot of time figuring it out.
