Have no idea, but it kind of looks like pioeer??
Is this new items in the collection downunder?
If so congrats!!

Power Machinery ( PM Canadien ) made quite a few Skil saws.Looks similar to a PM 330 or 340. I have 1 listing in an old Sandvik guide bar booklet that lists a 1629, 1630 using a 16" 3/8 .058 bar.

PM sold these saws into the 80's after they dropped their own name. I think Skil bought the last of the production. They were not a particularily good saw, much like Mc..oops I'm outa here before Macman shows up!

Here is my example, the top and muffler are not original, I had to make up replacement aluminum parts. The saw runs OK, power is comparable to a modern 50cc saw. You would think a short stroke 69cc saw would be a screamer, but this one isn't. Since it is late 60's technology it probably would benefit greatly from porting and a pipe. I think it has some potential once those areas are looked after. Replacement parts are non-existant. On the plus side it is very easy to work on, a perfect example of simplicity and accessibility.

Hey,
I have one of these saws. It was my grandfauthers and I would like it as a spare saw for the cottage. It runs fine but requires a new bar and chain. Does anyone have a idea if you can get a bar and chain for it?
Thanks.

Skilsaw 1629

Rescued one from the dumpster, got it going but the pull start keeps slipping and needs some fuel lines etc, any ideas where I can get parts and or a manual?

Thanks
Jim

They use the Fairbanks-Morse type rewind starter dogs. Assembled correctly, they work just fine. Homelite C5's use the same starter parts. Study the C5 IPL and service bullitin for guidence.

Yup, they are very stylish if lacking in power for a piston ported saw.

Thanks for the help, any idea where I can find a Homelite C5 IPL service bulletin? Have you had any experience with the recoil dogs not engaging properly, thinking I will take the assembly apart and clean/lubricate, it appears they are not extending out far enough?
