Just picked up a 066 without a decompression button and it has the metal flywheel starting to hear some negative views on the saw regarding a weak crank . Should I be worried or be looking for a 066 with the polly flywheel ? just want a reliable saw and don’t need a new 661 . This saw has good...
Hi all at AS.
I believe the answer is yes to my question just want confirmation.
I have a small oil tank 066 with a poly flywheel.(Crank very rusty).
Also a small oil tank 066 with a ally flywheel.(case broken).
The poly crank will be wider than the ally crank correct?
As someone said before...
Hi all at AS,
Will a second gen flat top 066 crank (poly wheel, large taper) fit in an early 066 (ally wheel, small taper )case?
Or are they different widths?and no seal to match the large taper/small seal pocket?
These are both small case saws but the ally case one has busted av mounts.
A quick...

After the swap I pressure/vac tested, found a leaking Flywheel side crank seal, replaced that. Then found a leak at the clutch side bearing seat in the...
As we know the crank bearings our saws use are typically open (no dust shields) on both sides. However I think the double shielded bearings are usually more popular in a given size. I've also found them much easier to find than the open.
With that said, I was shopping for some 6201 c3 bearings...
I've got a 661 I'm working on. P&C got destroyed, and I may have found the reason why. I took the P&C off, and the crankshaft is rough to turn by hand and nearly impossible with the starter. It's good for about 2/3 of the rotation but 1/3 is rough and hard hard to turn through. Flywheel isn't...
I'm about to do my first top end rebuild. I want to replace the crank bearings and seals too, just to be safe.
Will I need any special tools for this? What is the trick for getting them off, and getting the case split?
