In 2022 I saw more trees die from Oak Wilt and Dutch Elm Disease than I ever have before.
I don't think I've ever cried more over trees than I did last year either.
Here are the some of the pictures from those sites.
This was an aggressively managed site - late December to Early January...
I live in an oak woodland with oak wilt nearby. I’ve had several large red oaks fail over recent years from structural non wilt related reasons. One fell on its own and the other two I had to drop because they threatened my home. I still have the bottom sections of these 3 large trunks yet to...
"They" sometimes say Alamo loses preventive efficacy after several treatments two years apart. (I'm in an oak wilt center.) "They" say to spend the propiconazole $ on replacement trees. But I can't replace three big live oaks in a motte. I've successfully treated them and others three times...
My neighbor has a couple of oaks that died of oak wilt a year or more ago. He has taken them down except for the lower trunk and stump. His chainsaw crapped out and he has no solution for the trunk. He's asked me to help out using my chainsaw and stump grinder. I have no problem with doing this...
My neighbor across the street lost a beautiful grouping of oaks to oak wilt at the foot of his driveway. Most are gone now but there is still a large one standing that's been dead a few years. Opposite them, on my side of our paved little residential street, are a few of my own. There are no...
I lost a large limb from an important red oak in a storm the night of 7/11/17. The wound covers an area of about 10 sq ft and is 20-25 feet in the air. Trees had suffered oak wilt less than a hundred yards away. Please let me know whether you think something should be done to protect this tree...
Two related questions: An arborist told me that Texas A&M (Dr. Appel?) now says injecting propiconazole to prevent oak wilt can be done only twice, a couple of years apart, in a tree's lifetime. I can't confirm that online. Any opinions, facts?
2) I wonder if Mauget's Tebuject (tebuconazole)...
