I have an 020t saw it is less than a year old and it seems to bog down and not have as quick throttle response as when new. I would think it is a carburator adjusment problem but I have no clue on what to set do you guys have any suggestions? I use it daily as my main in tree saw. I recently purchased a second 020t used about three years old and it seems to have better throttle response and more power so mine can't be wore out. How often should spark plugs be replaced?

Have you checked your fuel filter. Filters can look good but be plugged with gelled fuel. I usually fill the tank, take the line loose at the carb and tip the saw to see if I can get a stream of fuel. A slow drip is usually not good enough. If it runs just a litttle then stops, your tank vent may be plugged. I see that pretty often. Got a 114 Dolmar right now that is that way.

Try the Madsen's site that treeclimber suggested.

If these things are to no avail; check the spark arrester screen for restriction or remove it. You may have to take off the muffler and look at the side of the piston to see if you can see any beginning of scoring or carbon buildup that might be trying to stick the ring in its groove.

yep id agree . u need to learn carb adjustment if u are using saws
to make a living. if u dont do that ,in my opinion u should take it to a dealer, as after break in, it will need an adjustment any way.
u probably got a lot more saw than u know. good luck.

I dont know your level of expertise on saw maintenance and I'm not being a smart a$$,But before you start tuning the carb make sure your air filter is clean.Dirty filter= richened mixture. Some times the simple things are over looked.

The old 020 has more giddy up, in part, because the exaust flows better. The epa restrictions have the newer saws exaust all clogged up.
I agree with the others clean or change all the filters, check the spark plug, then adjust or have somebody adjust the carb.

Thanks for the site on carb adjustments that will help alot. Just to let you know though i am extremely mechanically inclined have never paid for any repair on any vehicle but i like to ask the pros before i try without any knowledge and make the problem worse. Thanks for the help it is just what i was looking for.
