Bought the 025 off this site recently ( No names no blame. ) and it was advertised as a parts saw that runs. "Well," you could drag this thing behind a truck and it still woudn't run. It has spark and turns over without any problems and the piston and rings etc... are new. It does flood out, which i'm sure is the metering diaphram in the carb and or the needle valve etc... so i will replace these. It just irks me that people advertise a saw in such a way only to make a sale? "Once burnt" "Twice shy".:deadhorse:

Doc, I'm assuming this is the same saw in your other thread by the same name. I was hoping to learn more from your experience with that saw by watching the forum. Your suggestion to tighten the bottom bolts sure made a difference on my 025. Cut a whole load of firewood last night with no problems. Of course it helped too that I had another good carburetor to put on it from a second saw to compare.

Gas + spark+compression = Running saw. Stick with it !!

This sounds like the old "when is a parts saw not a parts saw" argument again.

I don't know how this saw was sold to you, but if as you suggest it has a basic carb related problem and the P & C are like new, what is your problem?

I assume you paid a parts saw price for it?

Parts saws are for parts, if you can make it a running saw with just a carb kit pat yourself on the back for a good buy.

Thanks for the feedback. Maybe i wasn't to clear. ( And venting because of another 8 hp project ) This isn't a complaint about the guy that sold the saw or particularly about the saw itself, i knew what i was buying. The only thing i'm saying is if the saw is started and it runs prior to selling/shipping than its a runner. I realize it can get damaged in transit, however, please don't list a saw as a runner when you've never even started it. I have seen this on ebay a few times which i expect from a place like that but not from the AR site, i believe the people here to be genuine and honest, i have not experienced a problem here yet. If its a parts saw than that is enough said, if it works/runs than describe it as such. ( Maybe its time for a nap, i am cranky with no sleep. ). Thanks for lsitening anyway.
