Hi Russ, that's what I was thinking. If the seller had of indicated in the auction that they were for an 026 he may have tripled his money. An item on ebay can never be over described, but I guess thats why deals abound there.

I bought a whole sackful of carbs on ebay a while back. $40 with shipping, I suppose it was worth it for the one I want, compared to new service parts.

many of them were brand new, most have the limiter caps, a couple have just idle screws, and there are one or two that look like the Stihl ones in this auction...I'll have to double check to see if they have the same spec number.

Gotta wonder what the deal is on them...some have never been on a running engine, one or two look as if they have been wet for an extended period of time, and a couple of them have obviously been assembled incorrectly at the carb factory...sticky choke shaft from misdirected peening, etc.

I'm thinking mine were all warranty change-outs, and probably not worth Schmidt, at least as whole, serviceable units. Like everything else on Ebay, caveat emptor, and I probably got burned. Again. Aargh.

You`re right John, an item that can`t be held in hand can`t be overdescribed. That seller could have easily tripled his money in my opinion since the 426 goes for a cool $65/each here in the US, and you can only buy them from a Stihl dealer. Not much chance of any significant discount. I sure wish that I had found that auction.

I have found a few other models of Walbro WTs that work equally as well on the 026/260, some of them not listed in the repair manual. I should compile a list and post it here.

Hi Russ, I guess that is what makes ebay so much fun, I have bought several mislisted items that recieved no traffic due to being misspelled, underdescribed or no keywords. After buying a feabily described book I realized it was a signed copy by a prominent author then flipped it for 400$ after being the only bidder at 40$ on the original auction. Will list an 026 carb and see how it goes.

I`ve got a few Intellicarbs I could sell you, LOL.

I actually do understand the distinction between the Intellicarb and an ordinary carb, Thank You glens, however I do prefer this euphemism for the POS fixed jet carbs that Stihl has been putting on the 026/260 of late.
