While rebuilding an older 026, I noticed the piston was domed.
Are the newer pistons that go in the 260 domed? Tell me no, I want to think I have more compression with the domed piston.

You`re right Gypo, the newer ones are flat. How old is the saw that you speak of?

I don't know nuthin' 'bout them shtil saws, but it seems like mebbe you'd just use the "Head Wrench" to tighten down the head some more, right?

The older 026s had a domed piston for a short time and they were either called the wood boss or the farm boss, part of the same line that included the 028 wood boss that also had a domed piston and the 024 also. These don't show up in the parts lists however, except for the 028 super, which does show a domed piston in the parts breakdown.

The saw in question is an 026, not a Pro. It was made in Virginia before all the EPA stuff. I bought it as a basket case from my dealer for 100$, it had piston score due to a lean setting because the carb was full of water and left mineral deposits, causing the lean setting.
After changing the carb and piston I traded it back to my dealer for 50 ft. of 33RS chain and another 346 for 400 U.S. out the door with a 100$ refund. I gave a 30 day warranty to my dealer.
Thats how you make a deal.
John
