Does anyone know if the piston and cylinder from a Stihl 026 will adapt to a Stihl 024AV? I have a near new 024AV that was run on straight gas, and have a lead on a 026 Cylinder kit for very little money. Thanks in advance.

yep, they bolt right on. the only difference is a bigger bore. I guess naturally you'll have to richen your carb a little to accomodate the bigger engine, but thats easy.

I'm working on the same problem with my 024. I've got 2 of em, one that should run, one that I'm gonna use as a tinkering saw once I get it all together and ready to go.

Thanks for the info, I figured it would probably work. The guy that wrecked the saws did in a 024AV & a 026 on straight gas. I will repair the 024AV for him and keep the 026.

The cylinder may bolt right on, but that doesn't mean it'll work. Search the forum, this topic has come up before. The 024 Super will accept an 026 cylinder. You are out of luck if you have a straight 024. Stroke is different.
