I'm working on my first 028 (the cover says 028 AV Super) and the chain brake parts are not all there. The IPL I have does not show the metal lever that I appear to have and the hand guard I have (1118 790 9100) matches the IPL but does not mate up to the lever. What hand guard do I need or can I swap the lever (if I can find one) to match the guard? Also, does it appear I'm missing any additional parts or is it only the lever/hand guard mismatch I have to deal with?

BTW, the c-clamp was a handy way to block the carb and muffler ports to do a quick P/V check after I replaced the leaky clutch seal. At least that went smoothly.

help is on the way

I don't know what you paid for that old saw but if you you paid more than $10
you should be pizzed. I'll do you a favor since I am looking for an old boat anchor
my offer... $25 plus I will pay shipping
PM the details

It has been a while since I have looked closely at my 028 Super brake assembly, but all looks to be in order. The only insight I can offer is the handle goes (attaches) to the clutch side of the bracket, not the cylinder side.

Good luck and watch out for the vultures trying to get you to part with your saw -- for your "own good".
