Have been looking for a used Bandit 65 in California. I may have the opportunity to purchase an '03 Bandit 95 with a Cat diesel and less than 800 hours for $12K. It's probably more machine than I need (I have 30 acres of oak, fir and laurel woodland to clean up and maintain), but if the price is really good, maybe I go with it. A good deal? Thanks.

No. Those machine are all overpriced. I was at that auction and inspected all of them. Some were in good shape, others not so good. They all sold for close to retail and now the guys that bought them are asking way too much. Main problem with the 95 is it has a single feed roller and they don't feed very well. What you want is a model 90 or maybe even an old Altec chuck-an-duck. Far cheaper to run and far more productive then anything else under $10K.

Thanks Cal. I knew that the 95 had a single feed roller. Shedding is as important as chipping to me, and I understand that the 95 is a bit better at dealing with leafy material. Anyway, I appreciate your insight on the machine. I'm in no hurry to acquire the right unit, and it sounds like this one isn't the best deal I'll come across if I'm patient.
