I know, 3 different saws...

Whats the big differences in them?

People rave about the almighty 361. If the 036 was similar in performance to it, Id consider my 036 worth rebuilding.

So was it similar?

Where does the 360 sit among the 3 saws?

036-MS360 - real similar saws with the MS360 having a few newer updates (Carb, muffler, handlebar material, toolless caps, etc). They both share the same piston and cylinder with the exception of some models had the decomp.

MS361 - The 036/MS360 is only similar to the MS361 in displacement. Air filtration, porting, and AV system is a completely different design.

So as far as capabilities go, they would all be in the same basic class?

If you had one in a cut and it broke the clutch, you could pick up one of the others and put it in the cut and go on basically like nothing happened, as far as power goes?

If so, the 036 sounds pretty good.

I know its lighter than the 044 I ran a while ago, I like the decomp valve, just makes life a little easier, coupled with the elasto-start...dats nice!

That old 036 isn't worth a thing. You got taken if you paid over five dollars for it. Seeing as how you are such a nice guy, I will help you out, just box that danged ol thing up and set her on your front step and PM me your address. I'll have an associate come over and remove that embarassment from you property pronto.

Oh Red I forgot to mention if my associate's vehicle and clothing look similar to what a UPS driver/truck looks like, think nothing of it.

:biggrinbounce2:

I'm kidding you, the 036 is a great saw. If it is as clean as you have said it is put her toghether, you will have a dandy saw.

If economically feasible, I'd say rebuild that 036.

My cutting buddy has an 032, and an 036, and them saws just keep on humpin. He's got an old 009 that has been running since Christ was a mess cook, and dosen't miss a lick.

He's jealous of some of our newer saws, but his house is as warm as ours in the winter, and he's way far money ahead if you factor in longevity.

The 361 is smoother than the 036, and I thought that the 036 seemed to have more bottom oomph, but the 361 aint nothin to sneeze at.

The 361 has a 4 channel engine design, like most Husky xps and the better Dolmars, witch result in faster acceleration and a wider useful powerband.

The displacement is 2.5cc less in the 361 (61.5 vs 59cc)

alright, Ill box it all up and wait till Ive got the $$ to drop on a kit and all the little things it needs.
