i just aquired a 038 farm boss and it needs a wrist pin so i want to get a new cylinder kit and was wondering if they make a big bore kit for it? and where do i get it? i know i can get the 038 magnum kit for it that makes it 52mm instead of 50mm but is there anything else? is there anything else i can do to it to get more power bigger carb etc?

The 038 (48mm piston) and the 038 Super (50mm piston) use the same crankcase. The 038 Magnum (52mm piston) uses a different crankcase. The bolt pattern is different to mount the cylinder.

So, to answer your question. Unless you have an 038 Magnum you can only go up to a 50mm piston/cylinder combo.

I have not heard of a "Big Bore" coming out for any of the 038's.

The Bailey ad seems to imply that their Magnum fits regular and Super
038v's. Is it possible that they offer a Magnum bore that fits the smaller bolt pattern. Have you tried calling them to find out more information? I am also interested in upgrading mine.

John,

Just a correction, I think you meant the 046. 066 runs a 54mm piston. 046 runs a 52mm.

I'm not sure on the Bailey's ad. Hopefully Grande Dog can answer up. I know the crankcases and cylinders have a larger bolt size on the 038 Magnum that comes from Stihl.

It appears that the two after market cylinder/piston designs are different. The Bailey one has two piston rings. The other only one.

Thanks for pointing out my error Tom, I meant to say 064.
