In illustration h "tank housing" what is number 33 gasket for? Do i need it? Stihl doesn't make it anymore. Part number 1119 129 1100. It looks like it goes between the intake manifold and the carburaetor. I noticed it when i was putting the saw back together and needed a few other items. Everything i needed was available except this. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have worked on many 038's and have not come across that gasket on any of them. Under the carb there is just the internal sleeve that goes in the intake boot and the washer that goes around the intake boot.

that's kinda what I thought. I also thought if there was another gasket it would be like double gasketing an oil filter on your car by accident and you end up changing the oil twice.

I have never seen that gasket either.. It was supposed to be used up to serial #x13 360 413 (some time in 1984) before the Magnum came out. There was a bulletin TI 32.1984 on it , but I don't have that to read.

Old thread, I know. The parts diagram shows this gasket, but I have never seen a gasket between the carb and the rubber boot on any Stihl saw. The carb presses directly against the rubber boot, creating a better seal than a paper gasket anyway. However, you must have the metal ring (#11199 121 8600) that goes around the boot or you will have a vacuum leak.
