Have an 038 magnum. The Ipl shows a gasket between the carburetor and the intake. My sawdorsnt have one. It also doesn't have a baffle between the carburetor and air filter. The ipl shows that it should. Saw was manufactured in 91. Does any know if these parts are supposed to be on this saw?

Yes that can give a hard starting condition. The best thing would be to perform a vacuum and pressure test. You say the machine was built 1991. With that age it`s possible that gaskets are leaking (crankshaft seals, case gasket etc.) The hard starting can also come from a partially clogged carburetor, fuel filters etc. Best thing would be to make a complete check of the machine.

It runs and idles. It's really hard to start though. And I feel like it lacks a bit of power.
Did you run it more? In your other thread you only made one cut. When mine became harder to start I put a new plug in it. All good again.

I have never seen an 038 with a gasket in front of the carb. Sometimes the spring in the air filter (choke) needs to be replaced if stretched,or missing etc. A new Bing kit should get it running fine. Set it at 1-11/8 turn open-L,1 turn open-H.
