Hey ya'll. I just bought a very nice used 039. No piston scoring, new bar and chain, not even a deep scratch on it. But it doesn't idle for more than ten seconds. It starts up fine, revs up great, and will idle good for a couple of seconds and then it dies out. And it starts up good after it shuts off. It doesn't just shut right off though, the rpm's just slow down and then shuts off. I ordered a carb. kit and a fuel line, i'm just wondering if i'm on the right track here. thanks guys.

Check the fuel hose right where it comes out the top of the tank. Take a light and shine it in there. If you see wet gas you have found the problem. Those saws were noted for busting fuel hoses right where they come up out of the tank..
