Picked up an old 041. I believe it’s an av but the air filter cover does not sit down in the shroud like it should. Can’t figure out why. New to me saw and first 041 I’ve had. Photos show what it looks like and serial plus a few part numbers that are in the saw. Want to fix it as I plan on keeping the saw. Not sure if someone changed the handle out and the shrouds are different lengths?

Or the air filter base maybe? Seems to sit high and to the rear quite a ways. Do the supers use anything different? Saw runs very well. Feels stronger than a 60cc.

Is the one on the right a German made saw from the sixties? It has the darker red color rather than the orange.
The one on the far left has the extra material on the lower handle, later. Have you got some dimensions for the carb cover? I might have a few covers laying about.

Saws a later serial number and looks exactly like the saw in the left but for some reason that air filter base sits high and rearward to far. I’ll get some measurements of the filter base but I think it’s right. Are there different spacers for the carbs? Every looks right other than where the air filter base sits. It’s the common part number for a 041.

If the center stud is screwed in all the way to the air filter base the cover is too tall to screw on. Apparently need the old orange top?

It looks like the filter base is flipped upside down. Your air cleaner also would be upside down and make the cover fit awfully. I could be wrong if the top cover nut attaches under the intake….

Finally got a chance to really look at it. The carb spacer was backwards. I thought the studs went all the way into the cylinder, nope so spun it around reworked the throttle and away we go. Old gal has 165psi compression and runs great. So the ms361 is now gonna go up for sale.
