Anybody agree?

ps ive got 2- 12 inch and 2- 16 inc bars at 1/4 pitch.,,that i wont use probably.
any body wants them id trade one for a chain . either 16 inch 325 ,63 gauge 67 dl full chisel or
20 inch 50 gauge 3/8 pitch.full chisel
or possibly 16 inch lp 3/8 lp
somebody can use these things i figure.
huh mark.. he gavum to me along wit a couple o bars i did use.:) thanks again bud.
edit .t hese look to be about new. dont think they have been on a saw.

I have .043 on a few of my smaller saws, I like it. It does cut faster than the .050 with similar cutters.

I've had a couple Intens bars on my small Huskys, dont much like em, but they do kinda work. They're .050 gauge tho. I've never run .043, but wouldn't mind if it is faster, a s long as it would stay together.. I dont think you can get .043 Husky bars tho.

I prefer lightweight bars on small saws, including 3 cube saws...just to save weight when aloft...don't care if they dont last as long.

.043 PMN may well cut just a little faster then .050 Stihl PM chain.I have PMN on my 021 with a rollermatic mini bar.A advantage over PM is the weight of PMN bar and chain.PMN chain will tend to be better lubed because of the smaller gauge bar groove, takes a little less bar oil to keep the groove lubed/clean.

Stihl PMN is "flimsy" chain. It's fine to use in clean cuts.If you happen to hit a foreign object with this chain it is more likely to break the cutter off than to dull it as compared to PM .050 chain. To me that's the biggest disadvantage to Stihl's .043 gauge chain.

im thinking they probably work fine. once had an015 that fish told me to se up with the 1/4 chain. it was a very smooth cutting saw. but tihl sure thot a lotto that chain. high as heck.
i just dont have an aplication forum rite now. and dont for see a need forum.
plus im an old horse trader an like to swap stuff i dont need,, for stuff i might use. although i have ample chains at this time.
my grandpa was a trader. hedecided nothin would do but that he get a mule
instead o the big plowhorse he had...
rode to town to trade,,and my grandma told how the whole family got out in the yd laughing when he come in with this young, green to plow,, mule that was half starved.. he toldum t he jokes on the other fella when that dam horse sees another mare in heat while hes plowin the dam thing... any way that mule fattened up and played a big pt o raisin 12 kids..
for anyone who donbt know ,the mule was valued so much by farmers cause instead of lunging into a load they tended to be real strong and steady. sometimes easier to plow.

Hey Tony I have got two logging mules that I've been plowing with in the garden. It looks like we only had half a buzz on. Lots better than last year though.
To stay somewhat on topic only recently have I used anything other than 3/8 square ground/filed. I can make the smaller chain cut , but it is not what I would call smooth. Guess I have to work on my uniformity/ness?

John

yep me too. thats where that roller guidean gauge guide come in handy for me. if i didnt have those tools my work would be about as uniform as the smoky mountains. good luck bud

Well Ricksvar, I think you hit the nail on the head so to speak. I took down and cut up my old pool deck today and blew 2 .043 chains to kindom come. Tore a few cutters off each. Still like the speed on clean wood though and will replace with like kind, might try laser chain though as it's quite a bit less expensive and comes in .043 so I won't need a new bar.

Rocky reinforced my point. I run the .043 on pole saws also, the .043 will runn on less power.

I had a situation on one model of 35cc small saw where it came with .043 safety chain. I timed it (disappointing). Went back to the shop and changed bars and chain so I could run Carlton N1C, time improved by a third. Point is the 35ccs would pull the regular 3/8ths low pro just fine. I suspect Oregon just done a marketeering job on the mfg. to the detriment of the consumer.

When I stated there was no need for .043, I was not considering the pole saws.
