Can you put an 044 cylinder on an 038 stihl …..just wondering

Different bore and stroke I think so while almost anything is possible it would be a lot of work and if it was a 038 MAG why would you make a desirable saw less so
The 044 slant fin cylinder fits the piston perfectly…..I was just wondering what the difference would be in the 038 mag and the 044 …..I have the 038 missing the carberator,cylinder and muffler …..and a hood 044 cylinder ….just late night boredom I guess
Acres shows a 2mm difference in stroke.
Is that on the magnum ….I seen it on the model profile but I could only find the av 038 …
038 mag is 34mm stroke 044 is 36mm.
Why?
